Suchandra has been working on koan rules for the ITB

• rules changed to use paravirtualized disk (libIO) and network

Plan for the week

Suchandra will send a request to ITS to allocate the Grid Colombia IPs to the new names

Suchandra will describe Puppet and Cobbler used in the ITB

• ITB cluster puppet/cobbler narrative
• high level, nothing long, something put together in few hours
• not at the level of detail of the single rules
• to document how to manage a small cluster

Next week all the worker nodes will be up:

• 2 physical WN
• one machine with KVM and 2 virtual WN

Marco takes a shot in rationalizing the node matrix:

• Rationalized node matrix (situation as it is)
• Node allocation describing the planning

Suchandra and Nate will check the tables

Suchandra: within 2 weeks Tier 3 machines will be decommissioned

ITB home directories:

• problems with ITB home directories causing load
• Tier 3 home dirs are being moved from edge4 (dying machine) to s1 (brand new server)
• currently there are about 20 accounts, coming from LDAP
• ideally Tier 3 and ITB should be decoupled from LDAP

Nate: get a rack mounted UPS for the critical Tier 3 machines
