Introduction

  • Bestman has been updated to 2.2.1.3.10 (VDT ticket 6372) not using
  • Xrootd has been updated to 20100315-1007
  • XrootdFS has been updated to 3.0rc4 not using

Testbed

• itb2.uchicago.edu is the redirector
• itb3.uchicago.edu is the data server

Getting started

Create xrootd account

• On the cluster management machine, useradd xrootd
• Then the files /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, /etc/gshadow, and /etc/group must be copied to both the redirector and data server machines.

Checking firewalls

[root@itb2 opt]# /etc/init.d/iptables status
Firewall is stopped.

Pacman

• # cd /opt
  # wget http://atlas.bu.edu/~youssef/pacman/sample_cache/tarballs/pacman-3.28.tar.gz
  # tar --no-same-owner -xzvf pacman-3.28.tar.gz
  # ln -s pacman-3.28 pacman
  # cd pacman
  # source setup.sh 
  

• On itb2, there is already pacman 3.29 which I shall use.

Redirector

Data server
